JDownloader

Download managers give you more freedom and flexibility when downloading large amounts of data from the Internet. They allow you to pause and resume downloads at any time, schedule them and much more. This is the kind of functionality you can expect from JDownloader. The application is free, open source and cross-platform and it is constantly updated by a huge community of developers.

Unlike other download managers, JDownloader won't get in your way when you click a download link. You can prepare a downloading process by copying the download URL and pasting it on the application's user interface. Alternatively, you can turn on the application's clipboard monitor, which automatically pastes download URLs on the interface, when you copy them on your web browser.

Pasted links and active downloads are listed on separate tabs. You can find the necessary controls for starting, pausing or stopping selected downloads on a toolbar. Additionally, you can move them up and down in the list and prioritize them. If you need the bandwidth for other purposes, you can set a speed limit and a maximum number of simultaneous downloads at any time, on the lower edge of the interface or through an icon, in the upper right corner of the screen.

You can choose what icons to display or hide on the user interface in the application's general settings menu. What's more, JDownloader provides support for countless plug-ins, developed by other users. You can view, organize and tweak all sorts of plug-ins and extensions in the same settings menu.
